Breathless Blog
Jaw dropping orgasmic experience.
Special Guest Adrianne Brennan
Good morning one and all. I hope everyone had a great Halloween. Well, it’s November now and in no time, the snow will be falling and the holiday’s wil begin.
Breathless Press has decided to open their doors to other authors and allow them time to shine on the Breathless Blog. Today marks our very first interview and we have the lovely Adrianne Brennan with us today. She begun her writing carreer at the tender age of ten and hasn’t stopped since. We’re thrilled to have her joining us today.
So give a warm welcome to Adrianne Brennan:
BP: Welcome Adrianne Brennan! Please tell the readers about yourself and share with us your current release.
Hello! Thanks for having me here today.
I’m quite excited today; I just had a book release entitled Dawn of the Seraphs. It’s out in ebook right now and available on Amazon’s Kindle, ARe, 1 Romance eBooks, and at my publisher Love You Divine’s website. Around the holidays if not sooner it will be made available in the Immortal Fire anthology in print.
Tamar is a Seraph, a member of an influential organization of powerful psychics known as ANGEL. Seraphs are humans who have evolved to have varying psychic abilities. Possessing a greater lifespan and intelligence than ordinary humans, Seraphs within ANGEL grow to their full potential through study and practice.
In the year 4287 on planet Earth, ANGEL has deteriorated to become the harbor of the bored elite. A small but passionate rebellion rises to take back the power they once held. In pursuit of his own dreams, Tamar is caught in the chaotic struggle for evolution, power, and to define the greater good.
Kir, an old rival from his days as an apprentice within ANGEL, resurfaces, threatening to shred Tamar’s world into bits…along with his heart. Their ideals clash, and a bitter fight ensues between them. Can Tamar’s courage save Kir from the darkness which plagues him while remaining true to himself and what he holds dear?
Excerpt:
“I chose you for this mission for a reason. You’ve got potential, serious potential. And it disgusts me to see you squander it on petty bullshit assignments. You’re wasting away in ANGEL, Tam, and it’s not right.”
Now Kir’s feigning concern. Does he think I’m stupid? Does he think I don’t remember how he treated me all throughout my time in ANGEL academy? “Oh, I get it, all right.” Tamar let out a short laugh. “You think I’m pathetic. When this is all over, you’ll have your laugh, I’m sure.”
Kir just grinned at him. “If I wanted to laugh, I’d be laughing now. Trust me.”
Something inside Tamar snapped, and his left first shot forward in an attempt to punch Kir in the face. But Kir was too fast for him, and he managed to get both of Tamar’s wrists pinned to the wall.
The rest of the motions went by in a blur. Tamar struggling, Kir shouting. Kir’s face smashing into his own. By accident? No, not by accident. Kir’s lips on his. The touch seared Tamar to the core. Their mouths pressed together, and both heat and tongues mingled into a delightful haze.
Oh hell, this can’t be happening. Kir is kissing me…?
And oh, it felt good. Tamar was on fire, his cock hard and throbbing in his pants. How long had it been since he had a partner? Way too long.
The air smelled of spice, sex, and sweat. Tamar could make out the underlying hint of cloves from Kir’s cologne. Wrists now free, his hands tangled themselves in Kir’s hair. Ha, it won’t be neat anymore after this. Bet he frantically combs it after sex so he doesn’t have bedhead.
Kir ripped open the front of Tamar’s pants and yanked them down, freeing his erection from the bondage of clothing.
(I’m dying to find out how you taste. Shall I find out?)
Tamar sucked in his breath. Was this Kir’s intention all along? Blow his mind, then blow him? I’ll never understand this guy as long as I live, and I’m going to be living a damned long time….
BP: What do you like or dislike the most about writing?
I love everything about writing! It’s the lack of time I dislike, as it gets in the way of doing so.
BP: Is writing a full time job for you or do you work outside the home?
*laughs* Oh, how I wish it were a full time job! But alas, I have a mortgage and kitties to support.
My full time job is software engineering.
BP: How do you balance work, home and writing?
I take everything on a day by day basis, budget my time accordingly, and make sacrifices when I can.
BP: Have you ever started writing a book you thought was going to be fabulous but while writing it you decided it wasn’t? If so, what was the book about and why did you scrap it?
I’ve never scrapped a book idea, but I have set aside things to work on later with the intent of polishing them up and finishing them. I see everything I put out into writing as potential gems and if they’re not unearthed yet, they will be down the road.
My goal is to always, always improve upon my writing skills. I will never be perfect. I will always look back on my writing and know that I could write a much better book today. So I try to be patient with myself and see what I can produce later.
BP: How many books did you write before one was published?
One, but I need to go back and rewrite it before I can do anything with it! I started it when I was fourteen.
BP: Where did the idea for your book come from?
Dreams and my crazy imagination.
Sometimes I dream up entire plots. I have one such story in the works based entirely on one dream!
BP: If you could change places with one character from your book, who would it be and why?
I honestly wouldn’t, except maybe for certain moments and events in their lives. All of my characters go through struggles and difficulties I sure wouldn’t want to face, but they certainly have their good times as well. Perhaps Merideth’s first night with Kalia, Amanda’s first kiss with Jesse, Lila’s meeting with the demon Asmodion….
BP: What type of writer are you—the type who plots it all out first or the one who mostly daydreams and fantasizes?
I’m a daydreamer, definitely! But I use those daydreams to determine what happens, and fill in the gaps of what I’m planning. So it’s a combination of the two.
BP: When do you find your creative juices flow better? At night, or during the day?
At night–I’m a total night owl.
I’m far more awake at night than during the day.
BP: Have you ever suffered from writer’s block? What seems to work for unleashing your creativity?
Often! It’s awful. Nine times out of ten, it’s due to stress clogging my brain and creative pathways. Pampering myself and making sure I get the chance to unwind helps. I listen to music, watch my favorite tv shows, get facials, and just do my best to relax. Too much on my mind means nothing can get through, and that includes any and all sources of inspiration.
BP: Who are your favorite authors?
Of both the fiction and non-fiction variety and in no particular order: Neil Gaiman, Madeleine L’Engle, Yasmine Galenorn, Charlaine Harris, Robert Calasso, Karl Kerenyi, and LA Banks.
BP: Give us a favorite line or caption from one of your books.
Ohhh that’s tough. I have a lot of lines I’ve really enjoyed writing. I’ll see if I can grab one which I like–not necessarily my favorite!–from each:
Blood of the Dark Moon: Is this woman nuts or something that I should know about?
Blood and Mint Chocolates: “The only wrong wish, Merideth, is the one you do not act upon out of fear. Fear of judgment, fear of appraisal, fear of people’s opinions. Do what you wish. Drink and be free.”
The Oath Book 1: Bound: When it was over she would truly be changed from prima materia, or base material, into gold.
The Oath Book 2: Summoned: Dionysus, lord of initiation and bringer of ecstasy…dear god, the things I do for you.
The Oath Book 3: Broken: “I want to learn, and learn things I only can from experience. To be my truest self.”
A Memory on Record: He may be a pain in the ass sometimes, but he’s also a sentimental pain in the ass. The Longest Night: Of course, anything that prevented you from dying a flamy death had to be sacred. Dawn of the Seraphs: Perhaps “enemies with benefits” would be a good term.
BP: What is your biggest pet peeve?
Bigotry, hands down. I can’t stand it when people use ignorance, religion, politics, or any brand of philosophy to justify hatred and/or prejudice against an entire group of people. I especially hate the “I’m not a bigot because my friends are xyz” defense. Sorry, it doesn’t wash.
Some fun questions now:
BP: If you were stranded on an island with only one man and a laptop. Which would you turn to first?
Laptop, but who’s the man?
That would definitely change my answer!
BP: What habit or habits do you have that drive others crazy?
I’m busy–often too busy. I sometimes wonder if I rush because I stress, or stress because I rush. Either way, a vicious cycle. I also spend waaayyy too much time online.
And I play with my hair. It’s a bad habit.
BP: What’s inside your purse?
Two wallets, a lipstick, my inhaler, my iPod, my Blackberry, a random bottle of massage oil I got from a sex toy party, a container of Lush Imperialis moisturizer, several pens, and my passport. Among numerous other bizarre items…
BP: Tell us five random things about yourself
I’m vegan, I have no siblings, I’ve been out of the US three times: twice to Canada and once to Ireland, my bra size is 32D, and I sleep with two pillows under my feet.
BP: What is the one thing—besides friends and family—that you just can’t live without?
A computer. Not just for the Internet, but for writing. It’s what I’ve always chosen to write on!
BP: Do you have any TV shows that you can’t miss? How about ones you can do without?
Doctor Who, Torchwood, Lost, Dollhouse, True Blood–love them!! Ones I can do without? Honestly, that constitutes most of whats on tv these days.
BP: Lastly and this one is the most important. Did you wear your pajamas while doing this interview?
Nope! In clothing while at work.
BP: Before we go, tell the readers where they can find you and where your books are sold

Hi Adrianne!
Great interview. I too use my dreams in my stories. I’ve had some really interesting dreams and some that would give the readers nightmares.
I’m a big fan of Dollhouse and I’m so glad they renewed it for another season. I love Eliza Dushku!

Hi Shiela!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed! It was a lot of fun.
I’m with you on the some dreams would be nightmares category. I’ve done my best to use material which people would enjoy, lol.
Dollhouse is awesome. The last episode was beyond brilliant. I love Whedon’s work! And besides, Eliza’s hot.

Interesting interview and excerpt! Your bra-size comment almost made me laugh aloud. When I first started dating women, I learned that some are incredibly secretive about that, even with their Significant Other(s)! I checked the bra of a girlfriend like that while she was asleep. When she woke up, I said, “Good morning, 38-D.”
Your readers didn’t really need to know your bra size, but thank you for your willingness to put them out there, so to speak.

Though used as an active ingredient in many hair products to increase cleansing, it is often combined with other “actives” such as Panthenol or Trichogen to soothe the scalp or increase hair growth.
